WellSpring

Teamwork

Our Approach

WellSpring Missions is working with established NGO’s such as Shine, Rotary, and Alaska Sudan Medical Project to purchase the well drilling equipment that will be used by three well drilling companies. The companies will be formed by and will employ the local villagers to dig and maintain the wells. WellSpring Missions goal is to develop the startup drilling companies, begin training for each of the employees, and have 20 wells completed by the end of 2015. Each well will serve 750 people, increasing the number of people who have access to a sanitary water supply by 15,000.

Empowerment:

WellSpring Missions believes that by giving ownership and responsibility of the well drilling and maintenance to the community allows the village to unite and achieve their goal of bringing clean water to their community. In order for this kind of empowerment to happen, the well drilling equipment is leased to the startup drilling companies. The villagers that work for the companies receive business and technical training from Rotating Services, Inc., an equipment repair and servicing company that specializes in remote regions of the world. This training enables villagers to manage the companies in addition to maintaining the wells and equipment.

The development of these companies lays the foundation needed to empower the people of South Sudan to build additional wells and expand the availability of clean water in their homeland.

WellSpring Missions and Rotary provide ongoing oversight of each well project. Board member, Dennis Drager, attended Living Waters Drill camp and will travel to Jonglei Province to evaluate the progress of each project site.
